Taking care of your teeth and gums can prevent costly treatments down the road. At Summit Family Dentistry, we're here to support you in that effort. You can count on our advanced care for periodontal disease as well as exceptional filling work.
Periodontal Disease

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease not only attacks your gums, it affects the bone that supports your teeth. When plaque is not removed properly, it turns into tartar and begins to destroy the gums and bone. Red, swollen, and bleeding gums are indicative of periodontal disease.

To treat your periodontal disease, we start by removing tartar and biofilm deposits via scaling and root planing. These procedures are completed by our dental hygienist and they are the first step in addressing your periodontal problems.

Signs and symptoms of periodontal disease include:
  • Bleeding gums
  • Receding gums
  • Red, swollen, or tender gums
  • Loose or shifting teeth
  • New spacing between teeth
  • Persistent bad breath or bad taste in the mouth
  • Pus around the teeth and gums
Regular visits to our dentist office for cleaning will help prevent periodontal disease.
Dental Fillings

Dental Fillings

A dental filling is a dental restorative material that is used to restore your tooth to good form and function.

If you don't like the look of metal fillings, porcelain and composite fillings are the perfect choice because they match the color of your natural teeth.

When treating a cavity, our dentist will remove the decayed portion of your tooth and fill the area on the tooth to replace the decayed material. Cracked or broken teeth can also be repaired by fillings.
